DNV releases latest standard for electrolytic cell systems: promoting safety and compliance in hydrogen production
Hydrogen production involves specific risks and requires strong safety measures. DNV-ST-J301 addresses these challenges through a comprehensive risk oriented approach that covers the entire lifecycle of the electrolytic cell system. This standard integrates all technical safety requirements into a clear document, simplifies the compliance process, and provides an authoritative, safe, reliable, and scalable operational benchmark for the hydrogen industry. The timing of the standard release is synchronized with the announcement of the EU Innovation Fund hydrogen auction, and it is expected that certification will play a key role in the success of the project.
Recently, DNV, the Norwegian Classification Society, released a new standard - DNV-ST-J301 "Electrolytic Cell Systems", which incorporates DNV's certification framework for equipment and facilities used in the production of hydrogen and its derivatives through water electrolysis
