Electrolyte Supported Cell
Electrolyte-Supported Cell (ESC) is the core functional unit of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) stacks. It uses a dense electrolyte as the structural support substrate, with porous anode and cathode fabricated on both sides respectively, forming a classic "anode-electrolyte-cathode" sandwich structure.
Its key advantages lie in the high density of the electrolyte layer and excellent gas tightness, which enables stable electrochemical reactions between fuels and oxidants under high-temperature operating conditions. It is a key foundational component for medium-to-high temperature SOFC stacks (especially kilowatt-scale and above systems), and is well-suited for applications such as high-efficiency power generation and industrial energy recovery.
