CIHC 2026 Launches in Beijing, Igniting Hydrogen Momentum for New Five-Year Plan

 

Beijing, March 25, 2026 – The 2026 China International Hydrogen Congress & Expo (CIHC 2026) opened at the China National Convention Center. As the first major hydrogen event of China's 15th Five-Year Plan period, it convened global stakeholders under the theme "Innovating for Green, Co-creating for Win-Win" to showcase the industry's progress and foster cooperation.


The accompanying high-level forum gathered over 1,300 participants. Officials from China's National Energy Administration highlighted hydrogen's role as a future growth engine, while a UNDP representative emphasized China's pivotal role in the global energy transition. Industry leaders from the China Hydrogen Alliance and state-owned enterprises outlined strategic development paths focusing on green hydrogen industrial chains and technological breakthroughs. Experts shared insights on innovation, market trends, and international collaboration.


Key launches included the "Global Carbon Code Identification System for Hydrogen" to enable carbon traceability, and the "2026 Hydrogen Startup Competition" to spur innovation.


The 50,000 sqm exhibition featured over 400 leading companies, presenting the full industry chain. More than 60 new technologies debuted, accompanied by project signings. Special zones highlighted regional development policies and academic R&D.


The event demonstrated strong global engagement, with participants from over 20 countries and 70 regions, including major international organizations. It served as a vital platform for deal-making and aligning China's hydrogen ambitions with global markets, positioning the sector as a key driver for the new Five-Year Plan's green growth objectives.
